Grocery Shopping & Delivery

Sometimes all that stands between you and a healthy, home cooked meal is a well stocked fridge. Now, it doesn’t have to! I am currently offering personalized grocery shopping and fridge stocking services on Mondays and Tuesdays! Email your grocery list to me by Sunday at noon* and your groceries will be delivered** to you at an appointed time on Monday or Tuesday.  Want me to put your groceries away? No problem. I’ll come in, stock your fridge, and tidy it up for you.

*Shopping will be done at Orchard Nutrition and Holiday Market.

**An extra $5.00 gas fee will be added to clients who live outside of Redding.

Berry, Seed and Vine Catering

I catered two wonderful events this week. My first was Tuesday night for Shanna from BEYOND BEAUTY ESTHETICS & MORE. She was hosting client appreciation party at Westside Wines

Shanna chose my Meat, Cheese and More platter as well as my Savory Pecan-Crusted Blue Cheese Bites and Mini Chocolate Cupcakes. The event was fabulous!

My second party was a Simpson University Graduation Party. FullSizeRender-3 The home was warm and inviting and the weather was perfect! A joyous occasion!

They chose Cauliflower and Garlic Puree with Smoked Tri Tip and Chimichurri Sauce Bites, Cajun Bacon Wrapped Shrimp Canapés, Caramelized Onion Dip, Large Veggie Tray with Cilantro Ranch Dip and a Large Fruit platter with a Dutch Chocolate Dip.

I love my job!

Today's Freezer Day!

Hello! I want to share todays Freezer Day with you! I made five meals for my clients freezer. A meatloaf from The Pioneer Woman. Enchilada Stuffed Peppers from Against All Grain, though I added a bit of parmesan cheese and used sausage. Sweet and Sticky Coconut Honey Chicken from PaleOMG. Baked ranch chicken tenders and a Shepard's Pie. I worked four hours, so my time was $100. The groceries she needed were $136.57. So there were about 29 servings, so at $236.57 that's about $8 a serving for five all organic meals, prepared just for you! IMG_9749

Worlds Easiest Paleo Cookies by Elizabeth Barbone



Prep time:  5 mins
Cook time:  12 mins
Total time:  17 mins
Serves: 16 COOKIES
  • 227 grams (2 cups) finely ground almond flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, homemade or grain-free store-bought
  • 100 grams (1/3 cup) dark maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  1. Adjust an oven rack to the middle position and preheat the oven to 350. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk the almond flour and baking powder together in a medium mixing bowl. Switch to a wooden spoon and stir in the maple syrup and vanilla. Stir until a sticky dough holds together.
  3. Drop dough by the tablespoonful onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading. For crisp cookies, press down the dough lightly with the flat bottom of a drinking glass or measuring cup. (If the glass sticks to the dough, dip the bottom in tapioca starch.) For softer cookies, don’t press down the dough.
  4. Bake until the edges are golden brown, about 12 minutes.
  5. Allow the cookies to cool on the pan for about 3 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Allow the baking sheet to cool, and repeat with the remaining dough.

Client Favorite: Lasagna Soup

 2 tsp. olive oil

1-1/2 lbs. Italian sausage

3 c. chopped onions

4 garlic cloves, minced

2 tsp. dried oregano

1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes

2 T. tomato paste

1 28-oz. can fire roasted diced tomatoes

2 bay leaves

6 c. chicken stock

8 oz. fusilli pasta

1/2 c. finely chopped fresh basil leaves

salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

for the cheesy yum:

8 oz. ricotta

1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 tsp. salt

pinch of freshly ground pepper

2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese


Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add sausage, breaking up into bite sized pieces, and brown for about 5 minutes. Add onions and cook until softened, about 6 minutes. Add garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1 minute. Add tomato paste and stir well to incorporate. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the tomato paste turns a rusty brown color.

Add diced tomatoes, bay leaves, and chicken stock. Stir to combine. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Add uncooked pasta and cook until al dente. Do not over cook or let soup simmer for a long period of time at this point, as the pasta will get mushy and absorb all the soup broth. You may even want to consider cooking the noodles separately, and then adding some to individual bowls before ladling the soup over them. This would be an especially smart move if you are anticipating any leftovers. Right before serving, stir in the basil and season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

While the pasta is cooking, prepare the cheesy yum. In a small bowl, combine the ricotta, Parmesan, salt, and pepper.

To serve, place a dollop of the cheesy yum in each soup bowl, sprinkle some of the mozzarella on top and ladle the hot soup over the cheese.

A Farm Girl Dabbles

End of my detox. Now what?

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! I just finished a 21 day Standard Process detox. I wasn't perfect. I had a couple of coffee's with cream around the time my grand baby was being born and two meals out with wine around that same time. But I'm proud of myself because it was hard! Dairy is not my friend and that makes me mad. I am hoping to work on my gut bacteria and change that.
I did this detox because I was having health issues. Arthritis symptoms in my hands and arms (intense pain) and hives. After the first week (yes it got worse before better) it went away and I only had one more outbreak of hives at about a week ago. I lost a couple pounds and some inches from the loss of inflammation. I was obviously toxic! This is why I always recommend cleanses as a starting place when you have health issues. I still have some hormonal work to do, hot flashes are back! lol
Like with most cleanses organic-zoneit definitely gets me back to what's important. A whole food organic diet and more important for me, eating more then once a day. For me the struggle is staying out of the restaurants and making food that I will eat. I don't eat a ton of meat like Tobias. And with cooking for him and for a living, sometimes I don't want to make myself food. The soups I ate these last three weeks worked perfect, so I will try to carry that on. Also, absolutely loved the Standard Process protein shakes and fiber. I will keep those as well.
Eating is one of the ways we take care of ourselves and love ourselves. I feel like we as women and moms are giving all of ourselves everyday, we forget to take care of ourselves. Sometimes for me it feels selfish. I want to try and be better at this! XO

Baked Oatmeal

2 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup cashew pieces toasted

1 teaspoon aluminum free baking powder

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

2 cups your choice of milk, I’ve used water too

1/3 cup maple syrup

1 large egg

3 tablespoons melted (cooled a bit) butter

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

2-3 ripe bananas

1 1/2  cup of berries (can use frozen)

Option: I add 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preheat the over to 375 degrees. Butter the inside of an 8 inch square baking dish.

In a bowl, mix together all the dry ingredients and set aside.

In another bowl whisk all the wet ingredients together.

Arrange bananas in a single layer a the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle two-thirds of the berries over the top. Cover the fruit with the oat mixture. Drizzle the milk mixture over the oats. Make sure the milk moves through the oats. Top with remaining berries!

Bake for 35-45 min.



Bone Broth for Detox

My absolute favorite Bone Broth recipe is from Nom Nom Paleo, check it out here. I just made my third batch yesterday. I have been using the broth for the soups I've been making during my Standard Process 21 Day Detox. Day 5 and I am starting to feel better! Benefits of Bone Broth: Detox

Glycine also helps in detoxification – the actually meaningful kind, not the ridiculous nonsense about unspecified “toxins” and the necessity of removing them by embarking on long fasts or juice cleanses. None of those special cleanses are necessary, because your body has its own detox system: your liver. Glycine gives the liver a hand up in removing anything dangerous from the body – for example, in one rat study, rats fed glycine showed significant improvements in recovery from alcohol-induced fatty liver disease compared to rats that weren’t.

Glycine is also necessary for the synthesis of glutathione and uric acid, the body’s most important endogenous antioxidants. As described in the article on antioxidants, boosting production of the endogenous (internally produced) antioxidants is much more useful for reducing oxidative stress than taking Vitamin C or other antioxidant supplements.

Yet another detox-related benefit is that glycine helps clear out excess methionine, another amino acid found in large quantities in eggs and muscle meat. Methionine is an essential amino acid, but too much of it can raise blood levels of another amino acid called homocysteine, and the process of breaking down homocysteine increases the body’s need for B vitamins (thus increasing the risk of B vitamin deficiency even if your intake is adequate). Glycine from broths and cartilage can help break down homocysteine without the need for B vitamins. This is a perfect example of the wisdom of traditional cultures in eating every part of the animal: the proteins in the muscle meat and the proteins in the connective tissue balance each other out for optimal nutrition.

Meal Prep Example!

Happy New Year! I wanted to share a Meal Prep example with you. My client today is a 3x4. She feeds her family of five and she says her meals usually stretch to more then three meals. I offered up (menus are custom to your dietary lifestyle) Broccoli and Potato Soup with rolls, Fiesta Beans with tortillas (for a light meal) and Prosciutto wrapped rosemary, garlic and asparagus stuffed chicken breast. Her total spent for almost all organic, was $142. Thats approximately $9 a serving! For $9 a serving I planned her week, grocery shopped, came to her house and cooked (smells amazing when you get home), cleaned, plated and put away all the meals in her fridge. I left her my personal receipt along with her market receipt. There will be a check waiting on her counter when I come for next weeks meals!
